Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr: We've got a lot of football left – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys got off to a reasonable start to the season, but they have not yet been able to show the class that could lead them to playoffs this season.
After their victory in the season opener against defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants, it was assumed that Cowboys would go on to win their next few games to strengthen their position in National Football Conference (NFC) East. However, Cowboys
are 2-2 after four games, tied with Giants and Washington Redskins as far as number of wins and defeats is concerned.
Even though things are not going in the right direction for Cowboys, their cornerback Brandon Carr has said that this is not the time to panic. Hoping that Cowboys will gain their rhythm, Carr told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram :
“It’s not the time to panic. We’ve got a lot of football left. We’re still fairly new to each other, still trying to find ourselves. But the good thing I can see is we just keep battling.”
The Cowboys did well during the offseason to add strength to their defence, but the defence has not been able to give good performances consistently.
Cowboys gave away 27 points in their Week 2 loss against Seattle Seahawks, while they conceded 34 points in their Week 4 defeat against Chicago Bears.
Carr said of the defence:
“Everybody is pretty much on the same page. It’s just we fail to keep our intensity throughout the whole game. We’re still trying to find a solution to that … But (there are) a lot of positives. A lot of guys are still eager to get out there, still have
upbeat attitudes and are just willing to go out there and work.”
The inconsistent defence and struggling offence might not help the Cowboys’ dream of reaching the playoffs and progressing further this season and they must do something to improve their performance significantly.
They are not going to play any game this weekend and they can utilise the extra time offered by their bye week to monitor their flaws during the first four games and prepare well to face Baltimore Ravens in Week 6 game.
