Dallas Cowboys CB Brandon Carr focused only on future – NFL News
One of many valuable additions the Dallas Cowboys have made to their roster this offseason, cornerback Brandon Carr has said that he is not worried about the last season’s performance of the team and that he is focused only on the future.
Carr, whose arrival in Dallas was a result of the Cowboys’ lacklustre performance on the defence last year, is hoping for a fresh start for the team in the 2012 season.
After playing four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Carr is now hoping to prove his worth with the new team. His addition is expected to improve overall performance of the Cowboys’ defence.
Cowboys finished 8-8 last season and their defence was not that great. As a result, the team introduced some changes in the defensive unit this offseason and also reportedly got a new defensive strategy.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Carr has said that he does not think of the Cowboys’ last season performance. He said:
“I don’t think about it ever. Last year is the past. We get a clean slate. There are guys that are new to the equation around here. We got a fresh start and we’re doing our best to change our identity. At the end of the day it’s time to make a name for ourselves
in 2012.”
Cowboys’ defensive coordinator has a new plan in place for the defensive unit that might surprise the opponents in the upcoming season. Carr’s selection coupled with the addition of first-round pick of this year’s draft, Morris Claiborne, increased the number
of cornerbacks in the team.
Ryan, however, sees these players an important part of his strategy. He is particularly pleased with the arrival of Carr. Ryan said of the defenseman:
“Brandon Carr is everything we thought and more. He’s got an incredible work ethic. He was the best player in free agency by far. It’s not even close.”
Meanwhile, Cowboys’ head coach Jason Garrett has also backed Ryan’s views on Carr. The head coach has also expressed satisfaction over the player’s performance during practice sessions so far. Garrett said of Carr:
“What we’ve seen so far has made us like him that much or even more.”
