Dallas Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins hopes to be fit after doctor visit – NFL News
After missing the entire offseason training owing to a shoulder injury, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins could not play in the preseason games as well. However, the player has hoped to be completely fit and healthy after his next visit to his doctor.
Jenkins is nursing the shoulder injury that even required him to undergo a surgery. Earlier this month, he visited the doctor, who asked him to return again in four weeks and did not give him the clearance to play.
As a result, the cornerback was ruled out of the preseason games. Cowboys have so far played their two preseason games while they will take on St. Louis Rams this Saturday in their third preseason games.
Jenkins’ next visit to the doctor is due on September 02, while the Cowboys are going to start their regular season campaign from September 05.
Jenkins is hopeful that he will receive clearance from the doctor to play and will be part of the Cowboys’ squad in the regular season opener. According to the details present on the team’s website, he said:
“I don’t know what’s going to happen. When I saw the doctor, he said four weeks. So I’ve got to go back to the doctor and see what he says. But I’ll be 100 percent when I get back.”
Meanwhile, Jenkins has reiterated that he is satisfied with his current situation. He made the headlines during the last few months and was reportedly unhappy with the team for acquiring two cornerbacks and not extending his contract. Some reports even claimed
that Jenkins had asked to be traded, but the player later denied these reports.
Jenkins still maintains that he does not have any dispute with the management. He said:
“Like I’ve said, no quotes ever came out of my mouth about being unhappy. There’s no frustration. That’s just people talking and assumptions. I’m hurt and trying to get healthy. My time will come. I know I’m good enough to be on anyone’s team. The only thing
I’m frustrated with is getting my shoulder right and going through this rehab.”
Jenkins is in final year of his current contract and if the Cowboys do not give him a contract extension he will become a free agent after the 2012 season.
