Dallas Cowboys CB Morris Claiborne excited to get back on field – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ first-round pick of this year’s draft cornerback Morris Claiborne is finally expected to make his National Football League (NFL) debut by participating in a preseason game against San Diego Chargers on Saturday, August 18, 2012, and the player
is excited about the prospects.
Claiborne was unfortunate to have suffered different injury problems this offseason and was limited in many training activities.
Cowboys surprisingly traded up their pick during the draft to select the cornerback who was already suffering with an injury when the team selected him.
Claiborne spent the offseason rehabbing and took part in limited workout. When he was finally able to step on the field after recovering from the injury, he suffered another injury during training camp and was sidelined again.
Although the player said that he could have played with the injury and that it was not creating problems for him, the management decided to adopt a cautious approach and did not allow him to play.
He missed the Cowboys preseason opener against the Oakland Raiders last Monday and now he has finally got clearance from the team to play. According to the details present on the team’s website, Claiborne said of making his debut:
“I’m very excited. It’s been a while since I’ve played in a game. I’ve missed a little time in practice and can’t get those reps back, but I’m trying to make the most of it when I’m out there.”
Although Claiborne’s college league record is good, the situation and structure of the professional league are entirely different and it poses tougher challenges.
Despite missing some training time, Claiborne considers himself lucky to be able to train with his teammates who exhibit high level challenges to him so he could get even better. He said of his teammates:
“All those guys are good. That’s probably the most difficult thing. You go into a game in college, you probably have one or two guys that, ‘Hey, we’ve got to definitely watch these two guys.’ Here, everybody’s good all across the board.”
Meanwhile, Claiborne has also admitted making some mistakes and said that he would try to learn as much as possible. He said:
“I don’t expect myself to make them [mistakes]. I just try to learn from them and try to fix it.”
