Dallas Cowboys DE Jason Hatcher pleased with the leadership situation – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end, Jason Hatcher, remarked back in February that the team lacked leaders, but around three months after giving those comments he now seems satisfied with the team’s leadership situation.
According to the Star-Telegram, Hatcher recalled his earlier comments and said that he did not mean to offend anyone in the team.
However, he maintained that he had seen a change since giving those comments and said that the team is going in the right direction at the moment.
He said:
“I say whatever's on my heart. Whether you take it or leave it, I don't care if you take it.”
Hatcher added:
“At the same time, I wasn't dogging anybody. I wasn't dogging the leaders we had. I just felt like guys can do better. Guys have stepped up, and I like the way this team is going. We've got camaraderie. Guys are looking out for each other. Guys are working
together. That's the direction you've got to go as far as getting to the championship game."
Hatcher’s earlier remarks had come following his team’s elimination from the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season in which the Cowboys had a strong chance of qualifying for the playoffs.
However, the team was unable to perform well towards the end of the season and was eliminated after the regular season.
It has been more than a decade since the Cowboys won their last Super Bowl title and they are desperate to achieve their lost glory.
While Hatcher had pointed out towards the lack of leadership in the team, many other critics, including some former players, mentioned several other reasons for the team’s failures.
Some of them opined that there were flaws in the techniques of the coaching staff while some brought quarterback, Tony Romo, in the line of fire and termed him the reason of the failure.
Irrespective of what the reasons are for the team’s failure, Hatcher’s remarks did cause a stir in the team.
It will be seen during the upcoming season if the Cowboys have actually found their long-sought leader and if not then there will be a long list of excuses waiting to justify the team’s another failure.
