Dallas Cowboys Dez Bryant has lunch with veteran players to discuss recent problems
Dez Bryant, wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, had lunch with three veteran Cowboys on Saturday 23 April, 2011 to discuss recent problems that occurred off the football field and have caused trouble for the exceptionally talented wide receiver.
Bryant confirmed on his Twitter page that he had lunch with Cowboys inside linebacker Keith Brooking, centre Andre Gurode and quarterback Tony Romo.
"Just finished eating with chase crawford,Tony romo Keith and Aundre gurode...had a good time," Bryant tweeted.
Chase Crawford is an actor that plays Nate Archibald in Gossip Girl. His younger sister, Candice Crawford, won the Miss Missouri USA competition and is currently engaged to Romo, making Chase Crawford Romo’s future brother in law.
A newspaper in the Dallas, Texas area reported on Saturday that Gurode had previously planned to reach out to Bryant to try and put him on a better path.
Bryant’s offseason so far has been filled with drama that had nothing to do with the National Football League (NFL) lockout or American football at all. He was sued by two jewellers who claimed that Bryant did not pay for merchandise that he purchased from the store and also had a problem with security at a shopping mall in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In the past few days, Bryant was able to reach a settlement with one of the jewellers for $267,000 of unpaid jewellery. The jeweller, A+A Diamonds Ltd., filed suit against Bryant for non-payment and Bryant settled out of court. He spent as much as $144,000 in one trip alone with his most extravagant purchase claimed to be a custom charm bracelet worth $60,000.
Eleow Hunt also filed a lawsuit against Bryant for bills totalling over $600,000 for cash advances, tickets to sporting events and jewellery that Bryant received before being drafted in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the ‘Boys.
The incident at the mall occurred when Bryant and a couple of companions were in the shopping mall with their pants hanging very low. Security officers asked the group to pull their pants up, saying that their underwear was showing. They refused and were escorted off of the premises by security, after which they were banned from returning to the mall.
However, one week later, a mall spokesman said that Bryant was welcome at the mall once more, saying that the entire incident was a simple misunderstanding.
Bryant has had an explosive season as a rookie with the ‘Boys until it was prematurely ended after he suffered an ankle injury. He ended the season with 45 receptions for 561 yards and six touchdowns. He also performed exceptionally well on special teams, with two punts returned for touchdowns.
