Dallas Cowboys’ Jason Witten optimistic about the team’s success in next season – NFL News
When the National Football League (NFL) announced that the defending Super Bowl champions, New York Giants, will take on the Dallas Cowboys in the next season’s opening game, Cowboys’ head coach, Jason Garrett, expected the announcement to become a motivating
factor for the players.
It turns out that Garrett knows his team very well as tight end, Jason Witten, seems upbeat about the encounter.
Not only that, Witten also thinks that the Cowboys have the right kind of players, who could bring the next Super Bowl title to Dallas.
He said:
"You see that schedule knowing we're going to open up (in New York) against the defending champs ... what else do you need to motivate yourself?”
While urging the players to forget the last season’s failure, the tight end added:
“There're going to be times when you lose, but you've got to be able to address it and get better. Hopefully we can hang our hats on that. We've got the right type of guys that can lead us to have the same kind of success that we've seen the Giants have."
The Cowboys and Giants have a special rivalry, which was highlighted at its best during the last season.
Both Giants and Cowboys continued battling for the top spot in the National Football Conference (NFC) East division throughout the season.
There was a time when the Cowboys were leading the division and it was looking like they will top the division and enter the playoffs.
However, the last four games of the regular season changed the fate of both the teams. Giants won three of their last four while Cowboys lost three.
Adding to the misery of the Cowboys, they lost two of the three games against the Giants, who were then able to gain supremacy in the division and qualified for the playoffs.
However, Witten wants the players to forget what happened in the last season and focus on what is coming next.
He thinks that the Cowboys have very good and aggressive players in their line-up and believes that the result of the division will be different this season.
He said:
“In my nine years, this is probably the most aggressive that we've been.”
