Dallas Cowboys Jay Ratliff hopeful to recover by training camp – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff has been playing constantly without missing games while maintaining high fitness standards and he wants to keep the trend going.
Although the defenseman did not take part in any of the offseason activities this year owing to a foot injury, he is hopeful of recovering from it before training camp that starts later this month.
He is still not in a position to take part in rigorous drills, but he believes that he will recover completely soon and be hundred percent fit during training camp.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Ratliff is focusing on his recovery at the moment. He said:
"I've just been rehabbing, even now. Just getting treatment and getting right, getting ready for the season."
Ratliff has been playing for the Cowboys since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2005. In his first two seasons, Ratliff did not get plenty of playing time, but he was made the starter in the 2007 season.
In that season, Ratliff played 15 games and started 14. In total, he made 30 tackles in that season.
In the 2008 season, he got 51 tackles while playing and starting 16 games. In the 2009 season, he once again played and started 16 games and this time got a total of 40 tackles.
In the 2010 season, he got 31 tackles while he managed 38 tackles in the last season. He was the starter in both these seasons as well.
Ratliff is a four-time Pro Bowler and a great asset to the team. His presence in the line-up will be very crucial in the upcoming season as the Cowboys are coming with a new strategy.
He has not missed any game in the last four seasons and he wants to play all the games in the upcoming season too. He said:
"There's really no sweat on my brow. My responsibility is just to communicate with my trainers, communicate with the coaches, let everybody know what's going on, keep everybody aware, and do my job. There's no complaints, there's no excuses, there's no anything
... In spite of the circumstances, I'm going to do my job: Win the fight."
