Dallas Cowboys’ LB Sean Lee looking forward to training camp and preseason – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker, Sean Lee, was remarkable throughout the last National Football League (NFL) season, which was just his second season as a pro.
Despite the NFL lockout last year that prevented the players and coaching staff to train with each other properly, Lee was able to work things out himself and defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan, in the limited time he got.
Players and coaches trained for about two weeks before the start of preseason and so they had to handle a lot of stuff within just two weeks.
Cowboys did the same and gave their best shot during those two weeks and when the season kicked off, Lee’s performance was really impressive.
Overall, Lee played and started 15 games in the regular season in which he recorded a total of 105 tackles and made four interceptions.
Now when there is no lockout this year, Lee is looking forward to having plenty of time to train during the training camp before the start of the preseason.
Lee is of the view that the extra time will help other players learn defensive tactics rather easily. He mentioned the lockout last year and pointed out that with no such situation this year, the players will be able to adapt to the strategies pretty well.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, he said:
“I just think he has the opportunity to teach the defence slower this year considering that we went into camp with four weeks until the first (regular-season) game and he’s trying to put in a whole new defence and also assess the defence, what they do well.”
He also said that many players are already familiar with the playing style, but added that the practice will help them master the art.
He said:
"Having that opportunity will allow us to learn this defence and master this defence better instead of trying to learn five defences in a day. There’s one thing to learn it on paper; it’s another thing to go on the field and practice all the techniques,
all the reads and be able to do it fast and efficiently.”
Cowboys are working on improving their defence lately, but they have to ensure consistency if they want to win the title in the upcoming season.
