Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo: I am always holding myself accountable and responsible for defeats
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who is not having a very ideal season, has said that he holds himself accountable and responsible for every game the team loses.
Romo has been brought under the line of fire for his failures this season. In just seven games, he has already sent 13 interceptions, the highest in the league, and has played two games while throwing at least four interceptions.
The Cowboys are struggling in National Football Conference (NFC) East and if they do not show immediate improvement in their performance they might not qualify for the playoffs this season.
Romo is aware of this fact and has taken the blame for his inconsistent performance. According to the details present on the team’s website, Romo said:
“If you’re playing quarterback in the National Football League, you’re judged off wins and losses, period. I know, after a game that we lose, I’m always holding myself extremely accountable and responsible, no matter what happens. That’s part of playing
the position.”
Although he has not defended his interceptions, Romo has said that they are part of the game. The Cowboys quarterback said:
“Ultimately, all interceptions fall on the guy who lets go of the ball. It’s on your record. It’s there for everyone to see. You understand that. I also understand that you can make a really good play and it can turn out poorly. That’s part of playing the
position. That’s part of playing the game.”
Cowboys have lost crucial games this season. They defeated defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants in the season opener, but when the NFC East rivals faced them again in Week 8 game, Cowboys were outclassed.
After the first half of the season, there are a lot of areas for Cowboys to improve, but they have to prepare even harder now as the road is going to get tougher only.
Every team in the division and the conference is now eyeing a playoff spot and with so much competition even a couple of straight defeats can hurt Cowboys’ chances.
Whether they are able to come out of the slump will be determined in their next game when they take on undefeated Atlanta Falcons.
