Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo appreciates RB DeMarco Murray – NFL News
In his rookie season last year, Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray impressed everyone. From his teammates to the franchise owner Jerry Jones, everybody sang his praises before his season ended with an injury.
It was heartrending for the rookie to miss games in his first year and even more remorseful was the fact that the Cowboys were not able to make it to the playoffs.
However, that is the story of the last season. As the Cowboys continue their training camp and preparation for the upcoming season, Murray wants to play a major role in the team’s success and his commitment is also appreciated by others including quarterback
Tony Romo, who desperately needs the players around him to perform well.
Murray has recovered from the injury and is upbeat about the upcoming season. Romo has appreciated Murray’s performance during training camp, saying that the player will get better as he continues learning more about the game.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Romo said:
“DeMarco has had a great camp so far. He’s working hard. He’s getting a better understanding of the offence as a whole. He’s going to have a good year this year.”
The quarterback added:
“I just think he’s good. I think he’s continuing to show signs of why everybody has liked him. He’s got a good burst. He sees it well. As he continues to get better with all the football knowledge that comes with your first couple years he’ll become a special
player.”
Murray started seven games while playing 13 in the 2011 season. On a total of 164 carries, he managed to gain 897 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Murray is looking to beat this record in the upcoming season and as he trained in front on thousands of fans on Sunday, he focused just on the basics rather than trying too much. He said:
“I’m just trying to set the tempo right now. I’m not trying to juke and shake. All that will come later.”
Meanwhile, Romo has said that the players are keeping their attention on the upcoming season rather than thinking about what happened in the last few seasons.
