Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo gains motivation from Seattle Seahawks loss in 2006 – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has not forgotten his fumbled snap back in the 2006 playoff round that cost his team the game against the Seattle Seahawks, but instead of recalling that incident as a failure, he uses it to gain motivation.
Romo had just assumed the charge of starting quarterback in that season and that fumbled snap added a lot of pressure on him. However, he was able to improve his overall output in the next season and since then he has been consistently evolving as the Cowboys
offence leader.
As the Cowboys prepare to face Seahawks on the latter’s home field for Week 2 game, a lot of reports have highlighted Romo’s fumble of the 2006 season as this will be his first visit to Seattle after that game.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Romo recalled that game and said:
“Shoot, it feels like I was 10 years old back then. Football is a great game, it teaches you a lot of lessons. Your ability to interact with other people, how to develop into a leadership role, lots of things. But you put your head down and just get better.”
He further said:
“Going through adverse situations in football can help build character. You can look to those spots and use it as motivation. That’s just one of those situations you took, as it was as a disappointing loss. It was a very tough at the time.”
Earlier, the Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones also discussed that fumbled and appreciated Romo for being able to improve his performance since that game.
Meanwhile, Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, who was also part of the squad in the 2006 season, has also said that the missed snap is unforgettable for them. However, Witten too has appreciated Romo for showing maturity and becoming one of the Cowboys most
reliable players in the ensuing years.
Romo has not been able to win any major championship for Cowboys, but he is well capable of doing it. He had an amazing season last year and has started his season on a positive note.  He hopes to lead the team to victory against the Seahawks this Sunday.
