Dallas Cowboys’ WR Dez Bryant upbeat about next season – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver, Dez Bryant, seems upbeat about the upcoming National Football League (NFL) season as he is paying attention to every single detail that could help him improve his game.
Bryant got the starting role last season for the first time in his professional career. In his rookie season, he did not get enough playing time, but the departure of Roy Williams allowed Bryant to become the starter last year.
This year, Cowboys lost Laurent Robinson and Bryant is once again expected to be the starting receiver.
Bryant, on the other hand, wants to utilise the opportunity in the best possible way. He performed well during the last season, but the room for improvement is always there.
Bryant is attending organised team activities (OTAs) and his main focus is to learn from the veterans and coaches as much as possible. He thinks that if he stays attentive during the training and classroom sessions, he will be able to learn a lot of important
things.
He said:
"I'm mainly focusing on just trying to be the best that I can. That's by just listening to the vets, doing everything right, continuing to stay accountable and just doing all the little things right. I feel like everything else will fall into place."
Last year, Bryant started 13 games while playing 15. He scored nine touchdowns while registering 928 receiving yards on 63 receptions.
Bryant also played a few games in the season with an ankle injury and had to miss a game as well.
He is of the view that the injury affected his performance badly and his record could have been much better had he stayed fit and healthy throughout the season.
He said:
"Some of the game tape that I watched from last year, I wasn't really too proud of myself, and I know it's because of the injury. This year I've spent more time focusing on my body and making sure everything is right."
As far as training and learning is concerned, Bryant is enjoying the offseason. While acknowledging that he has been learning since the last two years, Bryant said:
"It just got better, and I feel like it's already much better than last year.”
