Dallas Cowboys WR Miles Austin focused on getting back – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, who is out of the side with an injury and likely to miss the first preseason game, has said that he is not concerned about what others think of his injury and that he is focused only on getting back on the field
as soon as possible.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Austin said:
“It’s up to whoever to be concerned. Anybody who wants to be concerned can be concerned. I can’t focus on who’s concerned or who’s not concerned. I need to focus on getting back.”
Cowboys will play their first preseason game against Oakland Raiders on Monday August 13. Austin is expected to miss that game and it is not known if he will be available for the Cowboys’ second preseason game to be played against San Diego Chargers on August
18.
Some reports suggest that the player might be able to take the field next week, but nothing is confirmed yet.
Austin has a history of injuries. He was unable to participate in the last year’s training camp as well and this time he is out again with the injury. He missed a few games during the 2011 season owing to a hamstring injury and there are fears that he might
have suffered the same injury again. The exact nature of Austin’s current injury is unknown and the player has hoped that it is nothing serious. He said:
“Well, I know how hard I work, first off. And also, I have trust in God, so you shouldn’t be concerned. So, yeah, I’m not concerned.”
Earlier, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has also said that he does not want to push the injured players hard to get back on the field. Jones wants the players to take the due time to recover properly before stepping on the field. The owner
also hoped for Austin’s early recovery. He said:
“The only thing I can remember is how last year it took weeks for him (Austin) to get back. What you're seeing is preventative, so it won't take weeks.”
Jones’ assurance will certainly help Austin focus only on his recovery.
