Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers to hold joint training sessions – NFL News
The talks around the Dallas Cowboys coming to San Diego to conduct joint training sessions with the Chargers to practise for the 2012 National Football League (NFL) have concluded on a positive note, according to a report by U-T San Diego.
Both teams had practised together last year as well. Cowboys, however, were the host then.
According to the details present in the report, Cowboys will not train with Chargers before their preseason game on August 18.
The two sides will go on with their respective training camps this summer and will only start training together from August 20.
The management of both franchises were in talks over conducting the joint training sessions since last month.
The Cowboys have been working out with other teams since a long time. They have also hosted the Broncos and visited Denver for joint workout sessions.
Earlier when Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, was asked about providing the details around the possibility of holding the joint training session, he admitted having such intentions, but mentioned that there were still a few things to resolve.
Jones said:
"I would say the agreement -- our willingness to do it, their willingness to do it -- is all done. We've got a couple of logistics relative to such things as lodging, that type deal. But I don't see anything there would keep that from being a done deal,
staying over there."
Meanwhile, Chargers’ linebacker, Donald Butler, has also welcomed the idea of training with the Cowboys.
He was also a member of the squad that visited Dallas last year.
Butler was more than pleased to know that the session would be conducted in San Diego rather than Dallas where the weather did not appeal him.
Butler said of the joint practice session:
"It's going to be different, but I still think it will help. I'm glad it's here. That heat was killer, even though it was only one day of practice outside in the heat. On the second day, we went to the stadium, and I loved it."
The two-day joint training session will take place in Dallas in Oxnard.
The official confirmation from the Cowboys has not been received yet.
