Dallas Cowboys cautious with Miles Austin’s injury – NFL News
Although some reports suggest that Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin has not suffered any serious setback and that his hamstring injury is not going to cause any troubles for him, the Cowboys have adopted a cautious approach by not bringing him on
to the field.
Given Austin’s history with injuries, the Cowboys want to ensure his complete recovery before giving him the chance to step on the field. By doing so, they intend to prevent the injury from reoccurring.
During the past few years, Austin’s performance has remained affected by injuries in one way or the other and this season is no different.
In the last season the receiver missed training camp and preseason games and was forced out of some regular season games due to a hamstring injury. Now that he has again suffered the same injury, the Cowboys are not up for introducing him in the preseason
and want to give him time to recover so he could excel in the regular season.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is of the view that Austin is generally pretty active during training sessions, practice drills and workouts, and thinks that this could be the reason behind his injury. Nevertheless Garrett is impressed with Austin’s work
ethic.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Garrett said of Austin:
“You love that toughness. That’s what makes him the guy he is. It’s what makes all the great players who they are, but as a staff we’ve got to make sure we’re getting the right information from him so we don’t put him in a situation where he re-injures that
thing.”
Garrett also acknowledged that it is not the first time that the player has received the injury and hoped that the medical staff would be able to deal with it. He said:
“It’s been something that he’s been dealing with for a long time, and we’re trying to, as a staff and as a medical staff, do the right things by him to make sure that these things go away a little bit.”
Austin is the Cowboys’ regular starter and since the team is already dealing with injuries of many key players the management does not want to take any risk with any player.
