Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins active for Week 2 game against Seattle Seahawks – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Mike Jenkins, who has dealt with a number of injuries since the end of the last season, is finally ready to play his first game of the 2012 season as the player has confirmed to be active for Week 2 game against Seattle Seahawks.
However, it is up for the coaches to determine nature of his participation against the Seahawks.
Jenkins was limited during the offseason training activities owing to a shoulder injury. He recovered completely from that injury towards the end of the offseason, but still could not make it to the final squad in the season opener against New York Giants
owing to a migraine headache.
He is fully fit now and also practised with his teammates in the only full-contact session of the week on Wednesday.
Jenkins remained a bit controversial during the offseason as he was reportedly unhappy with the team’s decision to select cornerback Morris Claiborne in first round of this year’s draft.
Claiborne and other cornerbacks in the squad pose a threat to job security of Jenkins, who is in last year of his current contract.
The Cowboys are up for utilising these cornerbacks in a game on rotation basis and even if they select Jenkins for this Sunday’s game, it is not sure how much playing time he will get.
According to the details present on the team’s website, even Jenkins is unaware of his exact role in the game. He said:
“I’ll be back on the field – I’ll definitely be back on the field. How? When? Honestly, I don’t have any communication with the coaches to know what they want to do. I’m just here. I don’t want to be no distraction or anything like that, so I don’t want
to make it seem like I’m that way. So whatever they come to me and tell me they want me to do, that’s what I’m going to do.”
The cornerback also said that he had a good practice and that the injury was not a problem for him. He said:
“I feel like I’m ready physically to go out there and make the tackles I need to make.”
