Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan confident of victory over Atlanta Falcons – NFL News
Despite being underdogs in front of Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 game to be played this Sunday, Dallas Cowboys have expressed confidence about getting a win.
Defensive coordinator Rob Ryan asserted on Friday that the Cowboys have no other option but to win. Ryan said, via ESPN:
"We got to win this week. We know it and we're going to."
Cowboys are 3-4 and the second half of the season has some tough challenges for them. In National Football Conference (NFC) East, they are behind defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants, who are currently leading the division with a healthy advantage.
Falcons have won all of their seven games in the season so it does not matter where they are going to play against Cowboys.
However, it is of prime importance for the Cowboys to know that Falcons are among the best teams when it comes to playing on home field.
During the last three or four years, they have staged exceptional performances while playing at their home and their quarterback Matt Ryan also has a pretty decent record of playing on his home field.
Since this weekend’s game is also going to be played at Falcons’ home field, the Cowboys will be at disadvantage. Add Falcons’ this season record into the equation, the chances for the Cowboys will get even dimmer.
Nevertheless, it should not be ignored that the Cowboys are among the best defensive teams this season. They have maintained a firm control on the field when it comes to stopping passing and running game of their opponents. The credit naturally goes to the
players and, of course, Ryan, who is upbeat about handing Falcons their first defeat of the season.
Ryan said:
“We need to win now. That's what we're going to do. I know the record (3-4) is not what we want it to be, but the ball is bouncing strange ways. When that thing starts evening out, we're going to be great, and we're going to keep playing."
Meanwhile, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has said that his team should play against Falcons without committing any mistake to win the game. He said:
"What I want us to do is take what Atlanta gives us without a mistake."
