Dallas Cowboys find new energy after win over Philadelphia Eagles – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ recent win, and loss to National Football Conference (NFC) East leaders New York Giants have once again left the division wide open and any team including Giants, Cowboys and the Washington Redskins can earn  a playoff spot from the division.
After getting defeated by the Redskins in Week 12, the Cowboys were in a must-win situation as they faced the Philadelphia Eagles, another NFC East opponent, in Week 13. Their victory against the Eagles took their number of wins to six and hence they stayed
alive in the playoff contention.
Although a playoff berth is not guaranteed yet, a win nevertheless is a welcome development for the team that has struggled to stage consistent performances this season.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett shared his views while talking about the team’s performance, via Cowboys’ website:
“There’s a lot to clean up in this game. We’ll learn from it, we’ll put this one behind us and get ready for Cincinnati (next Sunday).”
It was also a record-setting game for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who passed Hall of Famer quarterback Troy Aikman to become Cowboys all-team leading touchdown passer. However, a win was more important for Romo than the record.
He said after the win:
“That (record) gets put aside when you’re right in the middle of where we are with the playoff picture. We’re playing for our playoff lives.”
Meanwhile, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has also showered the team with praise. He said after the recent win:
“I’m proud of the team, but we’ve really got to call on everybody … to do everything. Whether it’s a coach, whether it’s a player, whether it’s me – we’ve got to do everything we can do to get these next four ballgames.”
The Cowboys are now scheduled to face Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints and Redskins in Week 14, 15, 16 and 17 respectively.
One of the main threats for them is the Redskins, who are on a three-game winning streak after beating all their divisional opponents. The Redskins must lose their games for the Cowboys to ensure a playoff berth. Overall, it is still a wide open division
with Giants, Redskins and Cowboys still alive in the playoff contention.
