Dallas Cowboys have Mike Jenkins’ medical reports – NFL News
The Dallas Cowboys have denied the reports claiming that the team did not have medical reports of cornerback Mike Jenkins who has stayed in the limelight this offseason with respect to his future with the team.
Jenkins has not taken part in any team activity so far this offseason owing to a shoulder injury. He is training privately but his doctors have not declared him fit enough to train with the team.
Jenkins is also a bit disappointed with the team management that has two more cornerbacks on the roster this time.
Brandon Carr joined the team this offseason and Morris Claiborne was selected during this year’s draft. The inclusion of both players has somewhat threatened Jenkins’ future as well as he is in last year of his contract.
He has not been given any assurance about receiving any contract extension and the player also demanded to be traded so he could develop his prospects with any other team.
Some reports also suggested that Jenkins was out of the team activities this offseason in protest as he wanted to be traded.
In this situation the reports claiming that the team did not have medical details of the player reflected that both parties were in conflict with each other.
However, the Cowboys have rejected those reports and the franchise owner Jerry Jones has said that the team has all the necessary details about the player.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, he said:
"We've got all the information there is. It's absolutely not an issue. There is just no issue at all with him.”
He added:
"He's going to play. We know good and well he's not going to sit here and not play this year. We've got all the medical information we need. He'll go to work and get in here and help us win."
Jenkins has still not been declared hundred percent fit to play and practise with the team and Jones is of the view that the Cowboys will utilise the player as soon as he gets fit. He said:
“I know he'll ultimately get in a position to play. It's just not in his best interests not to be ready to play. If it's later, we'll use him later."
