Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett already gearing up for Week 11 – NFL News
After a critical win over Philadelphia Eagles that also saved Dallas Cowboys’ season, head coach Jason Garrett is not getting any rest.
He knows how important it is for the team to carry this winning momentum forward if the Cowboys want to have a playoff berth this season.
Their chances were helped by their victory and a defeat to defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants, who failed to perform well against Cincinnati Bengals and lost their second straight game.
At present, Giants are still leading National Football Conference (NFC) East with a 6-4 record, but the Cowboys are at second spot alone with 4-5 record. It is still too early to say that Cowboys will qualify for the playoffs, but there is no denying that their fate would have been decided if they had lost this game.
Cowboys now have a three-game home stretch and if they capitalise on the home-field advantage and get successive victories, the division will certainly become more competitive.
They will start their home stretch with a game against Cleveland Browns in Week 11. In Week 12 and 13, Cowboys will face NFC East opponents, Washington Redskins and Eagles, respectively.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Garrett is keeping his focus entirely on the next game and not letting the recent victory get on his nerves. The head coach said:
“If you’ve been around this league for any length of time, as a player or as a coach, you understand that it’s week to week.”
He added:
“You have to do your best to enjoy your successes when you have them and fight through the adversities when you have them. You’ve got to put this game to bed just like we put them to bed when we lose. We’ve got to get on to the next challenge. We’ll start getting ready for Cleveland tomorrow.”
Against Eagles, Cowboys’ victory was ensured in the final quarter when the former made a few sloppy errors. Eagles gave away three touchdowns (a punt return, an interception return and a fumble return) and lost the game due to their own fault.
