Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett excited about Week 17 game – NFL News
Even though the Dallas Cowboys were unable to stage consistent victories at the start of the season, they now stand at a point where a win will take them to the postseason as National Football Conference (NFC) East leaders.
In their first eight games of the season, the Cowboys only won three games, setting tone for another poor season. However, they came back rather sharply in the second half of the season and went on to win five of their next seven games.
At present they have won a total of eight games while losing seven. The Cowboys are placed at second spot in NFC East, tied with defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants, behind the current division leaders Washington Redskins (9-6).
The Cowboys will play their Week 17 game against the Redskins if they win this game, they will clinch the NFC East title and enter the postseason.
This will certainly be a stunning achievement because the Cowboys had been ruled out by many towards the start of the season. Now, however, they have got a chance to prove their critics wrong.
This do-or-die game could be a first attempt for the Cowboys to regain their lost glory. They were once among the best National Football League (NFL) teams, but they have been struggling of late to even qualify for the playoffs.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is excited about facing the Redskins in such a crucial game. According to the details present on the team’s website, Garrett said:
“We are excited about it. You live for games like this. We have worked very hard to get to this point and it will be a great challenge for us going up to Washington. But we played 15 ball games and we’ve got a chance to go play for the NFC East crown on
Sunday night, so we are awfully excited about the opportunity.”
The Cowboys have a few players in the squad who have played in crucial games like the one they will play on Sunday. Garrett is hoping to benefit from their experience. He said:
“Every year is a new team. But there have been some guys who have been in those games and hopefully we can benefit from that experience.”
