Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett looking forward to Week 17 game – NFL News
A loss against the New Orleans Saints in Week 16 crushed the Dallas Cowboys, who had done well during the game to rally from behind, only to lose the game in overtime.
However, a defeat to the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants in their game against the Baltimore Ravens has provided some cushion to the Cowboys. It would have been an entirely different story for the Cowboys had the Giants won their game.
At present, the task for every team in National Football Conference (NFC) East contending for the playoffs is simple: Just win the final game of the regular season.
By winning their game against the Saints, the Cowboys could have secured the top spot in the division, but now they are standing at second place.
The game against Saints was very competitive and the Cowboys did try hard to outclass the opponents. However, they just could not seal a win at the end even though they performed well in the regulation. The Cowboys scored two touchdowns in less than four
minutes to level the score and force the game to overtime. However, the Saints scored a field goal in overtime to get the win.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was apparently disappointed with the team’s loss, but he is not mourning the loss as he knows that the competition is far from over for his team.
If the Cowboys win their Week 17 game against the Redskins, they can qualify for the playoffs and this is what Garrett is focusing at present. According to the details present on Cowboys’ website, Garrett said of the game against the Saints:
“It was a hard fought battle, there’s no question about that. I think, we played really, really hard. There was a relentless spirit about our football team. There was a belief we could get the job done. Ultimately, we came up short. We certainly feel good
about how we played even though we didn’t make enough plays to win the game. The Saints deserve credit for doing that.”
Talking about the next game, the Cowboys head coach said:
“But we’re moving forward and looking forward to this opportunity Sunday night against the Redskins.”
