Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett not worried about next season – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys are in a troubling situation as they are on the course of losing yet another playoff opportunity. The bleak prospects have also given birth to the rumours that head coach Jason Garrett might lose his job after the season.
However, Garrett is not worried about what will happen to his job after this season and instead focused on the job at hand.
Following Cowboys’ defeat against undefeated Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 game, many media reports suggested that suspended head coach Sean Payton could become a free agent after this season.
Payton has previously worked with the Cowboys and that is why many are still predicting that he could take over the head coaching job at Dallas should he become available.
Currently on a two-game losing streak with a 3-5 record this season, Cowboys will need a herculean effort to get to the playoffs and must get victory over National Football Conference (NFC) East divisional opponents Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10 game.
Garrett said, via ESPN:
"We're just focused on what we need to do today. We need to clean up what happened in the game (Sunday) and build on some of the good and correct the bad and get ready for the Eagles, that's what our focus is. We're focused on being our best day to day and
week to week and this week it will be a great challenge going up to Philadelphia."
The Cowboys head coach later added:
“Trust me, I'm focused on what we need to do and I'm just focused on coaching this team as best I can and getting our team to play as well as we can play.”
Meanwhile, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has also expressed complete confidence in the abilities of Garrett, saying that he is among the best coaches for the team.
Although there is no denying that Garrett has a lot of potential, Cowboys’ performance in the last few seasons is not very impressive. This prompted many to believe that Jones might go for some roster adjustments if this season does not end well for his
franchise.
