Dallas Cowboys host Chicago Bears – NFL Preview
Dallas Cowboys managed to defeat Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3 game after overcoming their mistakes from Week 2 game, but they still need to be much better on offence as they face Chicago Bears for Week 4 game on Monday, October 01, 2012, at Cowboys Stadium.
Bears, on the other hand, are hoping to further build on the performance they displayed in their Week 3 victory over St. Louis Rams.
The offence of both teams is under pressure with Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and Bears quarterback Jay Cutler feeling the burden of leading from the front.
Romo was impressive against New York Giants in the season opener but the Cowboys slumped in Week 2 game against Seahawks and their offence was badly exposed. Dallas showed recovery in Week 3 game against Tampa Bay to go 2-1.
However, Romo still needs to be at his best if Cowboys need to win against Bears. A victory could also place them atop National Football Conference (NFC) East.
Romo has been among the best quarterbacks for Cowboys and Bears are well aware of the threat Romo’s presence on the field presents. Bears coach Lovie Smith said of Romo:
“It's a big challenge because he's as mobile as any, and not to run but to throw the ball. We should know what he's going to do, but it seems like he finds a way to get out of a lot of tough situations. That will be a challenge for us to keep him penned
in."
Bears are also 2-1 and have performed well on offence during their victories. However, their offence failed badly in Week 2 loss against Green Bay Packers and was able to score only 10 points.
In the season opener, Bears did well against Indianapolis Colts to score a total of 41 points, while they were also not bad against Rams as they scored 23 points.
However, the challenge for Bears against Cowboys is stiffer as they have an incredible defence that was ranked number 1 after first three weeks.
Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has appreciated his defence, saying that the good performance is a result of teamwork.
He said:
“This group is all in together. We worked hard last year. We just weren’t quite as effective. All our guys believe in each other. They’re playing hard. I think they believe in our coaches.”
It will be Cowboys’ second straight home game in a row and they will certainly enjoy their home-field advantage after entertaining their home crowd in Week 3 game.
Bears will be on road for second time this season. They lost their first road game of the season against Packers and hoping to win it this time.
If Cowboys maintain their defensive form while improving on offence they have a strong chance of winning this game.
