Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer delighted to be back and win – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys linebacker, who missed two games before returning to the team on Sunday to play against Carolina Panthers, is delighted on being able to take the field again and getting a victory.
Cowboys outscored Panthers to get their third victory of the season, and improved their ranking in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
Spencer, who missed Week 4 game against Chicago Bears and Week 6 game against Baltimore Ravens, returned to the field against Panthers and brought good luck as Cowboys ended their two-game losing streak.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Spencer said after the win:
“It felt real good to get out there again, but it felt even better to get the win.”
Spencer recorded a total of six tackles in the game. He also sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton when he was trying to initiate a final drive.
Spencer said of the sack:
“I missed (Newton) twice earlier in the game and so just to get that one at the end, it felt good.”
The linebacker added:
“It was a team effort. It was real good coverage. He was holding the ball for a while. I thought we did a nice job against him all game. He’s tough, but we held it together.”
Spencer’s absence was badly felt by the team as Cowboys lost both the games in which the linebacker did not play. Moreover, the player also felt helpless as he could do nothing but watch his team getting defeated.
It was tough for both, the team and the player, but both are satisfied now with the way things are going for them.
Spencer said of missing games:
“It’s real tough. I’m a football player. That’s what I do. That’s my life.”
He added:
“At the same time, injuries happen and you’ve just got to roll with the punches.”
Cowboys are 3-3 after this victory and they are now going to face defending champions New York Giants, who were defeated by the Cowboys in the season opener.
Spencer is hopeful of carrying the momentum into the next game and getting another win over Giants, which will also help them strengthen their position in the division.
