Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff could return for Week 6 games – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Jay Ratliff, who has not played any game this regular season, is expected to be part of the squad in Week 6 game against Baltimore Ravens, different media reports have suggested.
However, there is no official confirmation about Ratliff’s participation.
Ratliff did not actively participate in offseason training activities as he was dealing with a foot injury. He missed some preseason games as well, but returned for the third preseason game against St. Louis Rams.
However, the player was unlucky as he hurt his ankle during that game and was eventually forced out for a longer period.
He has missed all four games Cowboys have played this season and as the Cowboys gear up to face the Ravens this Sunday, there are chances that Ratliff might return.
His return will certainly boost the Cowboys defensive line-up that needs stability. According to the details present on the team’s website, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said of Ratliff:
“He’s worked very hard to get himself back in shape to play coming off the injury. He’s an outstanding football player and has been for a long time. He makes a big impact on our defence and our football team.”
Meanwhile, his teammates have also hoped that the tackle will return to the side for Sunday’s game. Defensive end Marcus Spears said:
“Getting Jay back is like getting three guys back. In the nickel packages, in the base packages and then teams actually game plan for Jay Ratliff. It’ll give other guys the opportunity to probably make more plays and have more success because he’s in the
game.”
Ratliff did not confirm his status to the media for the game against Ravens. The same was the case with Garrett, who mentioned that he would monitor the player’s performance before confirming his status.
Garrett maintained that the management would see Ratliff’s performance during the next couple of days before making the final call with regard to his inclusion in the squad against Ravens.
He said:
“We’re excited about seeing how he does (Monday) and how the week goes on.”
Cowboys are 2-2 after four games and need some victories to stay alive in the competition.
