Dallas Cowboys not frustrated over Morris Claiborne’s injury – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones’ comments over rookie cornerback Morris Claiborne and his injury were not properly projected by the media and the executive is not ‘frustrated’ with the player’s injury, some recent developments have suggested.
In an interview recently, Jones, while appreciating the rookie, implied that he must show his true potential.
Since joining the Cowboys this year as a first-round draft pick, Claiborne has not been able to spend more time on the field due to different injury problems. He was dealing with an injury when he arrived in Dallas and got another injury when he recovered
from the previous one and took the field.
The Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones had earlier said that he was not bothered by these injuries and that he wanted the player to be fully fit for the regular season campaign, which is going to start from September.
The comments from Stephen Jones somewhat gave an impression that the Cowboys were restless. However, Jones has clarified his position now.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Jones said of the situation:
“I try to give ya’ll a little bit but …. It’s not right. I didn’t rip Mo. It’s wrong. There’s no frustration at all. What I meant to say, in general, at some point these guys have to get back on the field. We were not in any way being derogatory towards
Mo Claiborne, period.
“I have zero worries about Mo Claiborne. How that gets out there is beyond me.”
Cowboys are going to play their first preseason game of the year against Oakland Raiders on Monday August 13 and Claiborne is not going to play that game. However, the rookie has hoped to return to the squad for the second preseason game, to be played against
San Diego Chargers on August 18.
Claiborne is frustrated over it, but he cannot do anything unless he gets clearance from his trainers. While mentioning that he had already missed a lot of time due to his first injury, Claiborne said:
“To have something else happen where I miss time, it's frustrating on me, but I can't do nothing about it.”
