Dallas Cowboys once again deny Felix Jones’ trade speculations – NFL News
The Dallas Cowboys seem to have taken trade reports of their running back, Felix Jones, rather seriously as in spite of rejecting the speculations regarding the player’s trade on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, the team management once again denied the reports
on Thursday.
This time, however, it is the team’s executive vice president, Stephen Jones, who has presented a better official version around the reports, which claimed that Cowboys had decided to trade Jones.
Jones said:
"No discussions -- or speculation -- on the possibility of a trade involving Felix Jones have ever taken place among individuals in this organisation who would have the authority to explore such a scenario."
Earlier this week, different reports emerged claiming the Cowboys had decided to trade Jones and replace him with DeMarco Murray, who was really impressive in the last National Football League (NFL) season, which was his first.
Jones and Murray both took starting role in the team last year and both suffered different injuries that allowed each of them to get the starting job. Murray received a season-ending injury towards the end of the season and missed the last part.
When the team management was contacted by a local newspaper to comment on the development, it rejected the reports somewhat desperately via a text message that said: “"no", "not at all" to "h**l No! Totally Inaccurate."
Stephen Jones also asserted that the team’s decision makers never discussed Jones’ trade and said that even if someone in the organisation talked about the matter, they did not have the authority to make decisions.
He said:
“Any reports of apparent internal discussions along those lines would involve people who have no input or relevance in the process."
Felix Jones started his professional National Football League (NFL) with Cowboys in 2008 and it is expected that he will continue to be a part of the team for a longer run given the level of trust the team management has shown in him.
Earlier, Cowboys’ owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, and head coach, Jason Garrett, on separate occasions, have already said that they consider Felix as valuable asset for the team and he might be seen taking the field along with Murray in the next
season.
