Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones favoured Washington Redskins over New York Giants – NFL News
Although the Washington Redskins had defeated the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12 game, when the former took on the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants in Week 13, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones wanted Redskins to win.
After being defeated by the Redskins, Cowboys won their Week 13 game against Philadelphia Eagles, taking their total number of wins to six in 12 games.
Giants, who had seven wins to their name when they faced the Redskins, could have increased the number to eight by winning against the Redskins and hence depriving Dallas of a chance to get a shot at a playoff berth.
Giants’ defeat has kept their number of wins to seven, only one behind Cowboys and Redskins who have six wins each. The win by Redskins was very impressive as rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RG3) once again shined for his team.
According to the details present on Cowboys’ website, Jones has appreciated RG3 and said that he wanted Redskins to win. During his weekly radio show on 105.3 FM, Jones said:
“We all couldn’t believe the Redskins were coming out of our mouths, but we were hoping they’d get the job done. To their credit, that RGIII is again a major factor in what’s happening, period. He did a great job. That was a big win for them, of course,
and for us.”
Meanwhile, Jones also spoke about the impression that observers usually get while looking at Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett.
Garrett seemed composed and “robotic” during his media appearances, but Jones maintained that the coach is entirely different when he is with the players or with any other official of the team.
The owner said of Garrett:
“You’ve got a situation a lot of times in front of the media, which is the best way for our fans to see Jason, I think just the nature of what he’s dealing with there makes him more guarded. He’s not guarded in any way when I’m having conversations with
him.”
Cowboys are going to play their next game Cincinnati Bengals on the latter’s home field.
