Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hopeful Tony Romo will bounce back – NFL News
After a sluggish show that resulted in Dallas Cowboys’ defeat against Chicago Bears in Week 4 game, quarterback Tony Romo has been receiving criticism from nearly everyone, but the franchise owner and general manager Jerry Jones is hopeful that the player
will bounce back to perform as per his potential soon.
Romo sent five interceptions against Bears and two of them were returned for touchdowns, increasing woes of the quarterback. Cowboys could have taken lead in National Football Conference (NFC) East with victory in this game, but they are now at second place
with 2-2 after four games.
As Cowboys take a timeout during their bye week, they will be focusing on Week 6 game against Baltimore Ravens, who will certainly win the game easily if Cowboys repeat their Week 4 performance.
That being said, Jones believes that Romo will bounce back to lead the team from the front. Star-Telegram quoted Jones as saying:
“I like where we are with Romo at quarterback. No one learns more from his experiences than Tony. This time last year with Detroit in the fourth game, point noted. He came back and never played better. I think the Detroit game had something to do with that.
If we can get the same kind of response he had last year when he had a downer. If he can come back and do that we will be fine.”
Meanwhile, Romo has also said that he is not going to worry about his performance against Bears. Instead, the Cowboys quarterback is upbeat about overcoming his mistakes to keep his team alive in the competition. ESPN quoted Romo as saying:
"You have to get over it.”
Romo added:
“I think I tried to do that too much. Going forward, I'm just going to have to do my job.”
After four games, Cowboys have not been able to display a consistent approach towards their game. At times they have performed well on offence and defence, but they have also slumped during crucial plays.
Such performance is not going to help their cause of reaching the playoffs, especially in such a case when the defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants are at the bottom of NFC East, depicting serious competition in the division.
