Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seeks improvement from team – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ 2-2 record in National Football Conference (NFC) East is certainly not pleasing, given Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants are ahead of them.
Furthermore, the victories for Cowboys this season have not come after impressive display of sporting skills. In fact, there have been close encounters that could have titled either way.
On the other hand, the defeats were pretty humiliating as Cowboys seemed to have surrendered against their opponents.
This has worried the franchise owner and general manager Jerry Jones, who has sought improvement from the team.
Jones said on KRLD-FM:
“We’ve got to play better. And if we play better or play where I think we’re capable of playing ... I’m disappointed that we’re not putting more points on the board. I’m disappointed that we’re not getting the turnovers. All of that tells me that at 2-2,
we’re in pretty good shape, considering the way that we’ve played.”
The owner maintained that the team is well capable of performing better. Jones added:
“I’m not saying we’re lucky to be 2-2, but we haven’t played any better than 2-2. We can play better, though. That’s the good news.”
Cowboys are going to play their Week 6 game against Baltimore Ravens and if they win it, they will tie atop NFC East with Eagles and Giants.
However, that is not going to be easy for two reasons: Ravens are performing exceptionally well, while Cowboys are underperforming.
Jones also ruled out making any roster changes during the season, hoping that the existing talent will take the team to the playoffs.
He said:
“We’ve got to play better from within,” Jones said. “It’s across the board. It isn’t in just one spot.”
Cowboys have been very much inconsistent this season, while they have struggled badly in terms of turnovers and giveaways. They fail to retain possession and often give easy scoring opportunities to their opponents.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has also urged his players to focus particularly on maintaining the ball possession, saying that the players must do a better job.
If Cowboys are unable to find rhythm soon, they might not be able to catch their divisional opponents.
