Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants more from Dez Bryant – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant’s recent arrest brought him and the franchise under negative publicity and while some players and officials stepped up to support the player, the franchise owner and general manager Jerry Jones was certainly displeased
with the receiver.
Although Jones had a ‘good meeting’ with Bryant, he asserted that the Cowboys would move on if the player did not improve.
Bryant was arrested on his mother’s complaint. He allegedly assaulted his mother, who later took back the charge and said she was not interested in pursuing the case.
Even though the case was not pursued, Jones was disappointed in the player as he does not want his franchise to undergo any sort of controversy.
Jones has now started pushing the player hard and seems to be becoming more demanding. According to ESPN, Jones said of Bryant:
“I’m seeing him do what you almost expect from him. What I want him to do is, and we want to do, is be able to do that all year long, all game long. That hasn’t happened. He’s disappeared at the end of some ballgames, and then we haven’t had at him because
of injury in the season.”
Jones’ remarks clearly imply that Bryant needs to do more. The owner had earlier said that he would move on if the player did not perform well and the recent comments are more than enough for the player to understand that his future with the team will be
in jeopardy if he does not perform well on the field and take care of his off-field issues that reflect negatively on the franchise.
Jones maintained that the player had done well in the recent training sessions and hoped that he would do so during the season as well. He said:
“He’s screwed around here and got his benefit of the doubt collateral down to nothing. And he’s also very vulnerable.”
The owner added:
“He’s got to gain a bunch of that back. He can do it, and he can do it right out on this football field.”
There is no room left to debate what Bryant should do to please the management. He must keep focusing on the upcoming season and provide good plays to get in the good books of the owner.
