Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones satisfied with victory against New York Giants – NFL News
The Cowboys ended the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season on a two-game losing streak. They got defeated by Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants and were forced out of the playoff contention.
As the Cowboys made a successful start to the 2012 season by defeating the Giants, the franchise owner and general manager Jerry Jones is pleased with the team’s effort and satisfied with the players who did well during the offseason to overcome their flaws.
The memories of the last season’s defeat are still fresh in minds of the Cowboys, but the victory in the 2012 season opener provided them the much needed consolation.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Jones said of the last season’s failure and the recent victory:
“It’s fresh on our memory. The areas that they, in addition to Philadelphia exposed for us, in our secondary, our coverage, our interior of our offensive line, we certainly went to that area and tried to address them. We had everything here, a test, for
everything we had done (in the offseason).”
The Cowboys dominated the Giants for most part of the game. Although there was no scoring move in the first quarter from any of the team and the Giants were the first ones to take the lead, the Cowboys responded brilliantly and once they got the lead they
did not allow the Giants to take it back.
This also shows that the Cowboys have improved significantly on mental level as they succumbed to pressure a number of times during the last season and gave away their lead towards the end of the game.
The Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was also pleased with the efforts of his players. He appreciated his players for defeating the defending Super Bowl champions and said:
“You play the world champs at their place on opening night in the NFL season, there are going to be some things that go well for you, but there’s going to be some adversity you’re going to have to deal with, too.”
The Cowboys have made an impressive start to the season but they still have to face a lot of challenges in the season.
