Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo can do more, says former great Roger Staubach – NFL News
It is not something new for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo to face criticism for not being able to lead the team to winning any championship game let alone the Super Bowl, but Romo should not ignore the piece of advice (constructive criticism if you
want to say so) from the former Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach.
Staubach is of the view that Romo needs to push his teammates to perform well. The former star does not see any problem in Romo’s performance as an individual, but Staubach believes that in order to transform his brilliant performance into more victories
for the team, Romo should get support from his teammates.
Staubach further said that Romo should feel the responsibility of leading the team and make his teammates perform better so as to complement his form.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Staubach said of Romo:
"He works really hard. His teammates love him. He's got to continue to get more out of his teammates, and that's his job, too, and he knows that. I think it wears on me that we lost a couple of Super Bowls, we lost some games. That's just part of being a
competitive athlete. So it has to wear on him.”
Romo has been playing with the Cowboys since starting his professional National Football League (NFL) career in 2003. He began getting more playing time since the 2006 season and since then he has never looked back.
It must be noted that the Cowboys last won the Super Bowl in the 1995 season and since Romo has taken the charge, the team has performed exceptionally well, particularly on offence, but the Cowboys have not yet been able to regain their lost glory.
Romo has led the team into the playoffs three times. In total, he has played four playoff games, winning only one.
Staubach wants Romo to keep on trying and not give up hope. While asserting that he wants to see Romo winning a Super Bowl title, Staubach said:
“It still was tough then, and it's tough today, and if you don't get there, you should be disappointed. But that doesn't mean you're not going to try again."
