Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo ranked 10 by Ron Jaworski – NFL News
As the number of Tony Romo’s critics continue to increase, it is interesting to see that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has gained the same number of supporting voices.
The recent one to admire the quarterback’s skills and game-play is former National Football League (NFL) quarterback Ron Jaworski, who is an ESPN analyst now.
Jaworski recently issued a list of top 30 quarterbacks. The list was based on his evaluation of the players and it was aired in the form of a TV series.
The analyst has ranked Romo at the 10th place, commenting that the quarterback is quick and disciplined. According to the details present on the team’s official website, Jaworski said of Romo:
“There’s an instinctive awareness to Romo’s play that I’ve always liked. He has always been able to move within the pocket. And he’s also very good extending plays outside the pocket, especially moving to his left. That's not easy for a high-handed quarterback
to do. Watch him get his front shoulder turned and his feet balanced with his back foot planted.”
Romo has been phenomenal for the team, but he has been criticised for his inability to any major title for the team.
Cowboys have not won any Super Bowl title under Romo and the player has only taken the team to the playoffs three times.
In total, Romo has played four playoff games and has only one playoff victory under his belt.
Romo had his career-best season last year and his accuracy was particularly commendable. However, the team still was not able to qualify for the playoffs.
Jaworski is of the view that Romo is generally considered as the player who turns the ball over many times. The analyst does not agree to that perception and thinks that Romo is among the league’s best quarterbacks.
He said of Romo:
“In his last two full seasons, he’s only thrown 19 interceptions in almost 1,100 attempts. That, my friends, is outstanding. Romo is without question a top 10 quarterback.”
It is certainly encouraging for Romo to have gained support from some observers. He has already been backed by the franchise owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett.
