Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo thinks Dez Bryant will learn from his acts – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been an ideal educator for young players in the team. He has the reputation of helping young guns in their stride towards professionalism.
Romo also looks very supportive to his teammate Dez Bryant who was arrested last week for family domestic violence charge.
Talking to “NFL Total Access” on Friday, June 20, Romo said:
"I reached out to Dez, and it's obviously a tough situation, and you just learn, like everybody does. Dez is a good kid. He's going to learn from this situation. And it's just part of growing and becoming who he wants to be.”
This season will be Bryant’s third in the league. He has gradually improved every year. Last season, he received 63 passes, covering 928 yards and got nine touchdowns.
Bryant was arrested on Monday after he was accused by his mother for assaulting her. Bryant turned himself in voluntarily.
On Friday, Police in Dallas put up a Class A misdemeanour family violence charge for Bryant. If Bryant is found guilty, his conduct will also be reviewed by the National Football League (NFL) commissioner Roger Goodell.
Romo also said that Bryant will have to adjust with the situation that he has become a public figure and will have to be disciplined in every part of his life. He said:
"I think that each year he gets better and better at understanding that he's in the public eye, and certain things he's got to think about. I'm just there for him. You know, you pray for him and you let him know that I'm here. I got his back, and he knows
that."
Bryant was drafted by Cowboys in the first round (11th overall pick) of the 2010 draft. He was signed for a five-year, $12.05 million contract.
Bryant has been sued previously for $861,350 on more than one charge.
Other senior Cowboys’ players have also been very vocal regarding this incident. Tight end Jason Witten gave some deep remarks saying that he was very saddened by this incident and hoped that Bryant will recover from it.
