Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Tony Romo wants to win Super Bowl – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ star quarterback, Tony Romo, has been a valuable asset to the team, but he is yet to take the team to winning the glorious National Football League (NFL) title for which he wants to be remembered in future.
During an interview on Thursday, April 12, 2012, Romo said that he wants to be remembered as they guy who led the Cowboys to winning the Super Bowl title.
He said:
"The Super Bowl is obviously the biggest team accomplishment, and also as a quarterback, it's what we're defined as."
The quarterback added:
"You don't rest until you feel that accomplishment. For me, that's always going to be there. That's going to be a very singular-driven focus. That's the way I am, and that's the way it's going to be until that happens. That's the way I'd like to be remembered."
The Cowboys last won the Super Bowl in 1995 season in which they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers to clinch the trophy.
They have made seven appearances in the playoffs since last winning the Super Bowl, but they failed to once again win the title after that.
To make the matters worse, they have not reached the playoffs since the last two seasons. In the last season, they had an opportunity of making it to the playoffs as they were leading the National Football Conference (NFC) East Division for some time.
However, they lost the regular season finale against the New York Giants, who ended the former’s hopes of playing in the postseason.
Cowboys finished the season with eight victories and eight defeats. However, Romo was brilliant throughout the season.
The quarterback played all the 16 games in which he completed 346 passes on 522 attempts for 4,184 yards, while sending 31 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He received a quarterback rating of 102.5.
Romo believes that Cowboys have the talent required to win the trophy and expects his teammates to perform well consistently in the next season. He said:
"It's about time that we go to that next step and I think our team is going to be ready for that."
Recently, a few other members of the team have also claimed that there is no dearth of talent and the side is capable of winning the Super Bowl next year.
However, Cowboys should also materialise their energy into the field to make their claims a reality.
