Dallas Cowboys receivers coach Jimmy Robinson satisfied with Dez Bryant’s offseason workout–NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ wide receivers coach, Jimmy Robinson, has expressed satisfaction over the performance of young receiver, Dez Bryant, who might get an increased role in the team during the next National Football League (NFL) season
According to the Dallas Morning News, Robinson discussed Bryant’s performance with different reporters after Cowboys’ rookie minicamp practice in which the team’s draft picks and players who were signed later as undrafted free agents took part.
When asked what was the main focus as far as Bryant’s workout and training was concerned, Robinson said that they were working on almost ‘everything’.
Bryant started his professional NFL season with Cowboys in 2010.
In his rookie season, he played 12 games while starting two of them. He gained a total of 561 receiving yards on 45 receptions while scoring six touchdowns in the season.
Last year, he was given added responsibilities as he started 13 games while playing 15 in which he gained a total of 928 receiving yards on 63 attempts. He scored nine touchdowns.
Recently, Cowboys lost their receiver, Laurent Robinson, who has now joined Jacksonville Jaguars, and the player’s departure has created more room for Bryant to prove his worth.
Cowboys are certainly expecting a lot from him in the next season and he, too, is willing to give his best shot.
Robinson said of Bryant’s workout:
"I think he's working hard in here. The teaching sessions got off to a good start. He's out here working really, really hard to get better. It's got to make a difference. If it doesn't, then what's the point of the offseason programme?"
Robinson also said that Bryant was having good time during the workouts and hoped that the player would carry on the momentum into the team’s training session, preseason games and eventually the regular season.
The coach said:
"Having a good offseason. Working really hard and getting better out here every day. Again, that's got to carry over to the next phase, to the OTAs (organized team activities) and training camp and then regular season, game day."
Cowboys will start their next season with a game against their National Football Conference (NFC) East division rivals, the New York Giants. It will also be the first game of the 2012 season.
