Dallas Cowboys reject reports of Felix Jones’ trade – NFL News
The Dallas Cowboys have strongly rejected reports suggesting that the team management was planning on trading running back, Felix Jones, and replacing him with DeMarco Murray, who was really impressive during the last National Football League (NFL) season.
When a local newspaper contacted the team’s front office to comment on the development, the reply and its nature said it all. The reply that came through a text message said: "no", "not at all" to "h**l No! Totally Inaccurate."
Now these remarks clearly indicate that Cowboys have no plans at all to trade Jones.
If that’s not enough, one could have a look at the remarks of Cowboys’ head coach, Jason Garrett, made during the NFL meeting last month.
While showing complete confidence in the abilities of the player, the coach commented:
“With Felix one of the things that’s exciting about him is he can handle a lot of different roles and a lot of different things. I think he’s proven to himself and to us and the league is he can run the ball inside.”
He added:
“He showed his versatility in whatever role we’ve given him he seemed to step up and do a nice job for us.”
Garrett also said that both Murray and Jones are an integral part of the team. He said:
“Both of those guys can go in there and do anything we’re asking them to do, and that’s an exciting prospect for a coach.”
Jones has been playing for the Cowboys since 2008 when he started his professional NFL career. In his first year, he was unable to play all the games and was forced out of the team after injuring his hamstring.
However, he performed relatively well in the next two seasons and gained the confidence of the management.
In the last NFL season, Jones was once again sidelined for a short period of time after being injured and that provided an opportunity for Murray to showcase his talent.
Murray’s performance was certainly commendable, but he, too, suffered an injury and went out of the field.
Earlier, Cowboys’ owner and general manager, Jerry Jones, also appreciated both players and said that he wanted to see both of them together in the team.
All these developments suggest that Cowboys are not planning on trade Jones and he will be a part of the team next season.
