Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray cautious with injury and rehab – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray, who has not played in the last few games owing to a foot injury, has adopted a somewhat cautious approach towards his recovery and rehab.
Although he is ambitious and eager to return to the field, the running back knows that rushing into anything could generate setbacks, hence sidelining him for even a longer period.
Murray has missed the last four games in which the team secured two wins, and his participation in Week 11 game against Cleveland Browns is uncertain.
According to the details present on Cowboys’ website, Murray said of his recovery:
“I’m just out there working hard and making sure I don’t take any steps back. We’ve been patient with this thing. We’re trying to make sure once I do get back there I stay out there. I’m feeling good and definitely staying in the right direction.”
Cowboys have listed Murray as questionable for Week 11 game. Murray hopes to get better and fully fit as soon as possible and join his teammates on the field.
He did some light practice on Wednesday and felt better. The running back said:
“For me, as a competitor there is a chance. Today, this week is the best I’ve felt. This is the best I’ve felt mentality after working out. I’m feeling good. Hopefully this thing continues to get better.”
Murray’s return has become significant now because the Cowboys have suddenly found fresh hopes of reaching the playoffs this season.
After a few dismal performances, they defeated National Football Conference (NFC) East rivals Philadelphia Eagles last week, and consecutive defeats to the division leaders and defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants have now brightened Cowboys’ chances.
Although a playoff berth is far from being guaranteed, a winning run from now on will certainly boost their chances. In such a case, Murray’s return will support the offence that has also started witnessing betterment in performance of quarterback Tony Romo.
Meanwhile, the time Murray has spent off the field nursing his injury has bothered him. He is desperate to play. He said:
“I’m a competitor and definitely want to be out there with my teammates through the good and the bad.”
