Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray out with foot injury – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray will not be able to play Week 7 game against Carolina Panthers and might be out for even longer period after he suffered a foot injury in Week 6 loss against Baltimore Ravens last Sunday
Murray was looking strong and aggressive in Week 6 game, but had to leave the field in the first half. He wanted to return, but the team did not allow him. The running back gained 93 yards on 14 attempts before being sidelined.
Initially it was assumed that the injury might be of serious nature and could also end the season for Murray. However, the player’s MRI results have shown that he does not have any broken bones, and is suffering from a foot sprain.
He is certainly going to miss the game against Panthers and could be out for some more games. However, it is too soon to speculate a timeline for his return.
The team is going to determine Murray’s status on a weekly basis and that is why the Cowboys have not yet given any word about the running back’s possibility of missing more games.
Murray started his professional National Football League (NFL) career last year. He was looking great in the rookie season, but an injury sidelined him and he was able to play only 13 games while starting seven.
He played and started all five games this season, but will not be able to spend a perfect season.
In total, Murray has gained 330 rushing yards on 75 attempts while scoring a touchdown this season.
In Murray’s absence, Cowboys are expected to rely more on Felix Jones, who had a very good game against Ravens.
Jones managed to rush for 92 yards on 18 attempts while scoring a touchdown against Ravens. However, he has some fitness issues and might not be able to spend the entire time on the field.
Cowboys are dealing with a few injury problems on their defensive line as well. Cornerbacks Mike Jenkins and Morris Claiborne also had respective MRIs.
Cowboys are currently placed behind New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskin in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
