Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray to miss game against Atlanta Falcons – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys are already facing a lot of troubles on the offence as quarterback Tony Romo is struggling to find his form. Their offensive worries are going to be increased in Week 9 game against undefeated Atlanta Falcons as running back DeMarco Murray will not play.
Murray, who has been recovering from a foot injury, was earlier expected to play against Falcons. However, he did not practise on Friday and was eventually forced out of the squad against Falcons, different media reports have suggested.
The reports have also claimed that the running back’s recovery from the injury is satisfactory, but the injury will keep him out of action for yet another week, at least.
Murray has only played five games this season and has missed the last two games. He was not there to celebrate Cowboys’ Week 7 victory over Carolina Panthers, while he had to mourn Week 8 defeat against New York Giants off the field.
According to some media reports, Murray has done some running this week and he also has a target date for his return. However, the player has so far refrained from mentioning that date.
As if Murray’s absence and Romo’s inconsistency are not enough, Cowboys are also facing a dilemma in terms of dealing with Murray’s replacement.
Felix Jones, who has taken up Murray’s responsibilities, is listed as probable for the game against Falcons. He practised on Friday, but was reportedly dealing with a few minor injury problems.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Dez Bryant is also dealing with a hip injury he sustained in last week’s loss against Giants.
Although Bryant is hopeful of being able to play against Falcons, he has admitted that the injury has slightly bothered him. He was also unable to practise this week because of the injury.
Even if Bryant plays against Falcons, he will not be returning punts as the team has stripped him of his duties as a punt returner because he was unable to do well on the field during the last few games.
So, the Cowboys are dealing with a lot of offensive worries as they head to face Falcons. In such a case their defence will have to step up and support the offence.
