Dallas Cowboys running back Felix Jones practises on Thursday – NFL News
A welcome development came for Dallas Cowboys on Thursday when running back Felix Jones was scene on the practice field after missing two consecutive sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday owing to hamstring injury. However, Jones did
not participate in a complete workout.
Nevertheless, his recovery is more than satisfactory for the Cowboys, who are going to need him desperately against Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.
The Owner/General Manager of the franchise, Jerry Jones, was excited to see him back on the field and said that the coaching staff is going to monitor Felix’s performance. He also said that the inclusion of the running back in
the starting line-up will depend on how he performs on Thursday and Friday.
"I'm anxious to see how he does today. He's going to look at all team and do some work. He's going to do some work, similar to what he did yesterday, but he's going to be involved in all team stuff. He should be able to get anything
he needs to get, by game plan and about what we're doing, and then we'll measure it, but he did get good stuff yesterday."
During the last two games, Felix rushed for more than 100 yards respectively. The Cowboys are already short one of their running back as rookie DeMarco Murray is out of the season after an ankle injury, and missing Jones as well
will not help their goal of reaching the postseason.
If Jones’ injury persists, Veteran Sammy Morris will start the Christmas Eve’s game. Morris was signed recently by the Cowboys after Murray’s injury.
Last week, Morris did not start the game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he got an opportunity to enter the field for a short period of time. He has 12 attempts for 53 yards during the game.
Coach Jason Garrett had already said that he has confidence in Morris and the Cowboys will certainly start with him if Jones is not available. He said earlier that:
“We're hopeful that Felix can be ready to practice later in the week. But we have confidence in Sammy who is a veteran back and knows what to do. And if he has to play a lot, we think he can help us."
With eight victories and six defeats in the season, the Cowboys are leading the National Football Conference East division. If they win on Saturday and New York Jets defeat New York Giants on the same day, the Cowboys will reach
the playoffs. In any other case, the division leader will be decided in the last week of the regular season where the Cowboys and the Giants will face off.
