Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant disappointed on missing catch – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has expressed disappointment over missing final catch from quarterback Tony Romo in Week 6 loss against Baltimore Ravens, saying pass interference from Ravens cornerback Cary Williams did not allow him to take the
catch.
Cowboys were eight points behind when they got a touchdown in the final minute of the game. The touchdown was a result of Romo’s successful four-yard pass to Bryant.
After scoring the touchdown, the obvious choice for Cowboys was to go for a two-point conversion attempt rather than a kick. A successful attempt would have forced the game to overtime.
On the conversion attempt, Romo once again sent the ball to Bryant, who could not collect the pass this time, and the Cowboys eventually lost the game.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Bryant was disappointed after the loss, thinking that pass interference caused him to miss the catch. He said:
“I thought it was pass interference. He [Williams] had his hand on my back and leaned on me as the ball got there. I’ll have to go back and look at it again, but I thought he was on me. Still, I’m not saying I shouldn’t have come up with it. I’ve got to
make that catch. I’m disappointed that I didn’t.”
Overall, it was not a bad game for Bryant, who gained 95 yards on 13 receptions and got two touchdowns.
However, his drop pass has left him a bit dejected. The receiver wants to gain trust of Romo and wants to be among the quarterback’s favourite receivers. Bryant said of Romo:
“I want to be that guy for him. He went to me a lot today and I like that. I’ve got to keep getting open and make even more plays. We didn’t win so you never make enough plays when you don’t win.”
Even though Cowboys played well, a defeat is certainly troubling for them. They started off the season well, but have not been able to gain momentum since the season opener against defending champion New York Giants.
Cowboys are placed at the bottom of National Football Conference (NFC) East after losing three of their five games.
