Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant focused on game after settling court dispute – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has expressed relief over settlement of a legal dispute that had put him under tight scrutiny since the last few months and said that he is now completely focused on his game.
Earlier, the player was arrested for assaulting his mother and received a domestic violence charge. As per the recent developments, the charge is removed conditionally after the player reached an agreement.
Bryant will have to stay out of all sort of legal troubles for at least a year and take anger management classes to get the charge removed unconditionally.
According to the details present on the team’s website, Bryant said after settling the dispute:
“I’m extremely excited we came to an agreement. I’m just going to do what I need to do to continue to be a great teammate, a great person and a great player, as well.”
He added:
“It bothered me a little bit, but it’s over now. I really feel comfortable and I’m ready to stay focused on football and keep my mind on that and nothing else.”
Earlier when Bryant had received the charge, he got negative reactions from everyone including a subtle warning from Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
A lot of players and officials including head coach Jason Garrett also backed the player and supported him at the time of need. Bryant has been a part of Cowboys’ player development program and the receiver might continue to get such support from the team in future as well.
Garrett, who appreciated Bryant’s response towards the program, said:
“We have a lot of programs in place for him and for other guys on our team to do the right things. He’s very aware of that, and he works very hard to do that every day.”
Bryant has not missed any game this season and he hopes to continue to be a reliable member of the offence. The timing of this settlement is perfect because the Cowboys do not need any distraction for any of their player. They have entered a crucial phase in which they want everyone to give their best in order to secure a playoff berth.
