Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant fractures his index finger – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant fractured his index finger during Week 14 game against Cincinnati Bengals.
Bryant was tackled by Bengals cornerback Adam Jones in the fourth quarter of the 20-19 win against Bengals. He was seen on television shaking his finger after the hit.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett announced on Monday that Bryant’s status for the next game was not known yet. It will be confirmed after his meeting with a hand specialist.
Garrett said of the injury:
“He actually hurt his finger prior to catching that touchdown pass that was such a difference-making play in the game.”
Talking about Bryant’s availability for the next game, Garrett said:
"Well, it's a medical decision first and foremost. There has been no definitive diagnosis of what he has and what his availability will be.”
If Bryant goes through a surgery, it is going to end his season. Now it is important for Cowboys to find out some way to delay Bryant’s surgery until the end of the season.
Bryant is very passionate about football and he is ready to play the next game with the risk of aggravating his injury.
The team does not want Bryant to suffer. The Cowboys are waiting for the doctor’s reply on this injury.
Bryant has been performing well throughout the season. He has 75 receptions for 1,028 yards and scored nine touchdowns.
He is an important player, who has really good chemistry of receiving the ball from quarterback Tony Romo, which has enhanced their performance a lot.
Miles Austin or Kevin Ogletree is expected to replace Bryant, in case if misses the next game.
According to Garrett, they have to practise for Week 15 game against Pittsburgh Steelers on December 16. He said:
“We have to continue to move on, and we’re going to play a game Sunday afternoon against them and we have to be ready for that.”
Cowboys have won seven and lost six games, and they are tied with Washington Redskins for second position in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
Cowboys have to win all remaining games of the regular season so as to keep their playoff hopes alive.
