Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant wants to play next game – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant wants to play next game, despite his injury.
Bryant fractured his index finger in Week 14 game against Cincinnati Bengals when Bengals’ cornerback Adam Jones tackled him in the fourth quarter.
He felt severe pain in his finger, and cameras captured him shaking his hand right after getting hurt. It is possible that he will go through surgery.
According to ESPN, a source from the team said on Wednesday:
"Unless the doctors say he medically can't do it, Dez is going to play."
According to Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett, Bryant will consult a hand specialist before the team decides the player’s status for the next three games.
Talking about the decision of Bryant’s availability, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said:
"I know he wants to play, Dez will be the ultimate decision-maker on surgery or playing with some kind of padding.”
He added:
"Make no mistake about it. Dez is champing at the bit and wants to take the route of playing."
Bryant is passionate about playing football. He has 75 receptions for 1,028 yards and scored nine touchdowns in this season.
He has received 1,000 yards for the first time in his career. He is ranked 10th in receiving yards.
Bryant and quarterback Tony Romo have a great chemistry due to which they have performed really well throughout the season.
If Bryant sits out the rest of the regular season games, it would be difficult for Cowboys to accelerate on the offence.
He is among the Cowboys best receivers, and the team really wants him to play until the end of season, but they do not want to risk his injury either.
Cowboys have seven wins and six defeats to their name. They are tied with Washington Redskins for 2nd position in National Football Conference (NFC) East.
They are going to play their next game against Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, December 16.
Redskins are performing really well and they have won last four games. Cowboys cannot lose any game in the season as it will seriously hurt their playoff chances.
