Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin explains reason for last year’s failure – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver, Miles Austin, played amazingly well in two straight National Football League (NFL) seasons before suffering a hamstring injury during the last season.
He registered over 1,000 rushing yards in those two seasons, but the injury forced him out of a few games in the last season and hence he was unable to get third straight season with 1,000 plus yards.
While reflecting on his last season’s performance, Austin said that the injury was the main reason behind his poor record, which, he thinks, could have been much better if he had played all the games.
Austin, however, thinks that he has recovered properly now and will be able to play all the games in the next season.
He said of his hamstring:
"It feels good. It feels good. (It’s) not an issue."
Austin added:
“Right now I’m working with the trainers at our facility. I feel like last year I wasn’t prepared for the season the way I should’ve been condition-wise, even though I looked and felt it at the time. That’s one thing that I have to keep an eye on. To make
sure I’m in the best physical shape I can be.”
Austin started his professional NFL career with the Cowboys in 2006. He did not receive much time to spend on field in his first three seasons, but was trusted by the management in his fourth year with the team.
He did not let anyone down and posted 1,320 yards on 81 receptions while playing 16 games and starting nine in 2009. He also got 11 touchdowns.
In the next season, he played and started all the 16 games of the regular season and registered 1,041 yards on 69 receptions and recorded seven touchdowns.
In 2010, he also signed a six-year contract extension with the team.
Just when he was becoming an important of the team’s offensive line, he was hit by the injury that kept him out of six games in the last season.
Last year, Austin could only play 10 games in which he gained 579 yards on 43 receptions while scoring seven touchdowns.
Apparently, the injury was the main reason behind his failure, but Austin will have to prove his worth in the team’s offensive line by once again registering impressive stats in the next season.
