Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver Miles Austin focused on ‘doing the right thing’ – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys’ wide receiver, Miles Austin, whose performance was constantly hampered by injuries throughout the last National Football League (NFL) season, has expressed optimism about the upcoming season, saying that he is focused on doing the right thing
all the time.
Austin has been playing for the Cowboys since starting his professional NFL career in 2006.
In his first three seasons with the team, he was unable to earn more playing time, but the Cowboys trusted him with more responsibilities since his fourth season.
He got the starting role in 2009 and registered over 1,000 receiving yards in the season.
He was equally impressive in the next season in which he played as the regular starter and once again managed to gain more than 1,000 receiving yards.
However, last year when the Cowboys were once again expecting a lot from the player, he was unable to deliver as per his potential owing to hamstring injuries that affected his performance in a very negative manner.
He could only play and start 10 games and managed to register less than 600 receiving yards.
During the offseason Austin got time to recover and once again focus on his game and he is now hopeful of giving better performance in the 2012 season.
According to the details present on the team’s official website, Austin said:
"I feel like it's pretty much the same mindset of focusing on getting better, focusing on working hard.”
He added:
“But I wouldn't be happy . . . there's times you might have had a good season that you might not have been personally happy with because you didn't do certain things the right way. I'm just focused on doing the right thing as often as possible every time."
Recently, he also said that he had recovered well from the injury and while explaining the reason for not performing well last year, Austin commented:
“I feel like last year I wasn’t prepared for the season the way I should’ve been condition-wise, even though I looked and felt it at the time. That’s one thing that I have to keep an eye on.”
Cowboys desperately need Austin to get back in rhythm as they are already short of one receiver and if Austin struggles again, the offensive line will receive a serious blow.
